Adoption Blog Critique

This is the photograph I'm critiquing for my adopted art student.  I REALLY love this photo, because it's not "normal", it goes a step further and is different than other art norms.  I love how the lips pop against the pale skin and how you can almost tell by just the lips how the person is feeling or what expression they have on the rest of their face. I think the message they're trying to get across is maybe something about trying to be different? Because it looks like the same person is in each photograph, just with a different style.  It was a really good idea to do 4 different squares instead of just one huge picture of a pair of lips. I also think that the matching of the object in the mouth to the color scheme of the lips was done really well.  Something that bugs me is that the very last lips that are muli-colored are tilted a different way and there's drool...  I know its supposed to look a lot different than the other lips, but i think the person could have had the mouth tilted like the other ones and just leave it empty, so it'd still be different, but not at an annoying angle. Overall, i really like this photograph because it looks unreal and it's something you dont see every day so it's something new to me.
